Nov 15, 2016 | Billy Goat Curse
We are very happy the cubs won the way they did and the cursed is reversed. The goat was always meant to be a good luck charm which is why Billy “Goat” Sianis took the goat to the game in 1945 so they could finally win the world series after losing 7 series since 1908. The curse became a legend gradually as the cubs kept losing since the moment the cubs kicked the goat out in 1945. We’ve recently noticed some connections to the past:
- The last time the Chicago Cubs won a World Series game prior to this year was in 1945 on 10/8 (108) in extra innings…the score was 8 to 7……In 2016 the Cubs won the World Series in extra innings to break the 108 year drought…the score was 8 to 7.
- Game 4 1945, after a brief rain delay, the goat was kicked out because the rain caused the goat to smell and fans were complaining. This year after a brief rain delay the cubs won the world series.
- October 22 is an important day:
– 10/22/1970 – Billy “Goat” Sianis passes away
– 10/22/2011 – Theo Epstein signs with Cubs
– 10/22/2016 – The Chicago cubs clinch the pennant for the first time since 1945

“Theos” is the Greek word for “god”. Maybe it takes a god to break a curse!

Our “Reverse the Curse” crowning ceremony and ringing of the original goat’s Trokani bell from the 1945 World Series has awakened the spirits, helping the Chicago Cubs clinch their first NL pennant in 71 years on the anniversary of Billy “Goat” Sianis death. The stars are aligned to let the Goat in to finally see the Game 4 of the World Series and end this curse once and for all!

We still have Murphy the Billy Goat’s ticket from the 1945 World Series game 4 that the Cubs have never honored.

The Chicago Cubs clinched their first NL Pennant in 71 years on October 22, the anniversary of Billy “Goat” Sianis’ death. We know he was there with his pet goat Murphy cheering on his favorite team.

The Cubs started the 1994 season horribly, losing twelve home games in a row. Their worst home start in history. In an effort to end this streak, Sam Sianis and his goat went to Wrigley Field only to be denied entrance yet again. Amidst the chant of “Let the Goat in!” amongst the Wrigley crowd, Hall of Famer, Ernie Banks helped by escorting Sam and his goat into Wrigley. The Cubs won the game 5-2, ending their worst home start ever. A lesson learned?

Will this be the year the Curse is broken? We hope so, but the goat has still not seen his game.
